Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 26, 2026

1. Scope and contact

This Policy explains how Pocket Tutors handles personal information when you use our website and tutoring services. Questions or requests about your information may be sent to pocket.tutorstudy@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect account details such as name, email address, and optional phone number; student grade, subjects, timezone, booking schedule, class topics, notes, and messages; files or links shared for lessons; tutor-created class recordings or links to recordings; package, payment, referral, and session-credit records; and technical and security information needed to operate the site and keep accounts safe.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive payment and transaction information needed to confirm purchases and administer session credits; Stripe handles payment-card details under its own privacy terms. We do not ask you to send card numbers to us by email or through class notes.

3. How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; match students with tutors; schedule and deliver classes; provide recordings and learning materials; process payments, credits, referrals, and support requests; send service, account, and class emails; prevent fraud and misuse; maintain delivery and transaction records; and meet legal obligations.

4. Class recordings

Tutors record classes and add a recording link or resource for the student to review. Recording is required to use the Service. A recording may include the student’s voice, image, name, questions, and learning activity. The tutor creates the recording and adds its link to the student’s account; Pocket Tutors currently stores the link, while the video itself may be hosted by a third-party video or file-storage provider selected for the class. The student, account-holding parent or guardian, assigned tutor, and authorized Pocket Tutors administrators may access it to provide or support the service. The adult account holder must tell the student about recording and obtain any consent required by law before the session.

5. When information is shared

We do not sell personal information. We share only what is reasonably needed with service providers that help us operate the Service, including Supabase for authentication, database, and storage; Stripe for payments; Vercel for website hosting; Google Meet for live classes; email delivery providers; and video or file-hosting services used by tutors for class recordings. A student’s assigned tutor receives information needed to teach that student. Authorized administrators may access information to provide support, manage accounts, and protect the Service. We may also disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service, or legal rights.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their independent practices. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Children and parent/guardian accounts

The account holder must be at least 18. A parent or legal guardian must create and manage an account for a student under 18 and supervise the student’s use. A child under 13 may use the Service only through a parent- or guardian-managed account and after any legally required parental consent has been obtained. Parents or guardians may contact us to ask about, correct, or request deletion of a child’s information, subject to information we must retain by law or for legitimate service, security, or payment purposes.

7. Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain account and payment records, support classes, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. Where available, this includes the versions of the Terms and Policy acknowledged when an account is registered. Retention periods vary by information type and purpose. You may request deletion by emailing us; some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution reasons. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online service or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

8. Cookies and service messages

We use essential browser storage and cookies to keep you signed in, protect accounts, and make core features work. We send transactional emails about accounts, bookings, payments, and class changes. These are service messages, not marketing subscriptions.

9. Your choices and U.S. privacy rights

Depending on where you live, U.S. state law may give you rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information, or to appeal a decision about a request. To make a request, email pocket.tutorstudy@gmail.com and identify the account and request. We may need to verify your identity or authority as a parent/guardian before responding.

10. Updates to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service or applicable requirements change. We will publish the latest version on this page and update its effective date. If a change requires notice or consent, we will take the steps required by law.
