Legal
Terms of Service
Effective date: October 26, 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms apply to your use of Pocket Tutors, including our website, student and tutor accounts, booking tools, learning materials, and online tutoring sessions (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Adults, parents, and students under 18
The account holder must be at least 18 years old. A parent or legal guardian must create and manage an account for a student under 18, supervise the student’s use, and provide any consent required by applicable law. Students may not create their own accounts. A parent or guardian is responsible for the student’s activity and for making sure the student understands and follows these Terms.
A parent or guardian arranging tutoring for a child under 13 must contact us before the child uses the Service so we can address any parental-consent requirements that apply. Do not submit a child’s personal information unless you are their parent or legal guardian and are authorized to do so.
3. Accounts and acceptable use
Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials, and promptly tell us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. You may use the Service only for lawful educational purposes. Do not harass, threaten, exploit, or discriminate against another person; upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing material; interfere with the Service; or attempt to access another person’s account or information.
Students, parents, and tutors must keep tutoring and payment arrangements on the Service. Do not exchange personal contact details or arrange or pay for tutoring outside Pocket Tutors. Google Meet or another link provided for a scheduled class may be used to conduct that class; this does not authorize moving the tutoring relationship or payments off the Service. We cannot technically monitor or prevent every communication made outside our website. Report concerns to pocket.tutorstudy@gmail.com.
4. Sessions, prices, and payment
Tutoring sessions are one hour unless a different duration is shown before purchase. Current standard prepaid packages are $15 for 1 session, $55 for 4 sessions, and $99 for 8 sessions. Custom packages and any applicable referral discount are priced and confirmed at checkout. Prices are in U.S. dollars. Your payment is due in advance through our payment processor. Packages are one-time purchases and do not automatically renew unless a checkout page expressly says otherwise.
A paid package adds the stated number of session credits to the account. Each completed or late cancelled session uses one credit. A referral offer applies only when its eligibility and discount are shown at checkout. We will not charge a different amount from the amount you authorize at checkout, except for taxes or other charges disclosed before you pay.
5. Scheduling, cancellations, and tutor reassignment
You may cancel or reschedule a scheduled session at least 4 hours before its start time. A timely cancellation returns one session credit to the student account. A cancellation made less than 4 hours before the session, or a failure to attend, uses the session credit and is not refundable. Same-day bookings must be made at least 2 hours before the session begins.
If the student is not satisfied with their first completed class, the account holder may contact us to request a different tutor for future sessions. We will arrange a reassignment to another available tutor. This first-class reassignment guarantee changes the tutor for future classes; it does not refund the completed class or add a session credit.
6. Class recordings and learning materials
Tutors record tutoring sessions and add a recording link or resource to the student’s account for review. Recording is a required part of the Service; Pocket Tutors currently stores the resource link, while the tutor or a third-party meeting or file-hosting provider stores the video itself. By creating or using a student account, the adult account holder acknowledges and agrees to this recording practice and, when acting for a minor, represents that they are authorized to provide any required consent for the student. Recordings may contain the student’s voice, image, name, questions, and learning activity. Third-party providers’ terms and privacy practices also apply.
Tutors retain ownership of their original teaching materials. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use session recordings and materials for the student’s own learning. Do not copy, publish, redistribute, or use them commercially or to train an artificial-intelligence system without permission. You may upload only materials you are authorized to share.
7. Educational service; no guaranteed results
Tutoring is educational support, not a guarantee of a particular grade, test result, admission, or academic outcome. Students remain responsible for their schoolwork and for following their school’s academic-integrity rules. The Service is not an emergency or mental-health service.
8. Suspension and changes
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, enforce these Terms, investigate suspected fraud or misconduct, or comply with law. We may update the Service or these Terms. We will post the current Terms here with a revised effective date; continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, subject to any consent required by law.
9. Contact
Questions about these Terms or a tutor reassignment request can be sent to pocket.tutorstudy@gmail.com.
